Lockdown Art: Daily Portraits – Day 9 to 18

Day 9 to 18 of my lockdown art portrait series.
I love children’s books, and how they use illustration to tell stories. Because of this I try to step out observational sketching, into drawing from imagination. I enjoy creating illustrated characters – both humans and animal and make them spring into action. There is so much to explore and so much to learn!
I mostly work with pen, ink and watercolours. More recently I learned to put hand-drawn elements together on the computer. It offers more flexibility as you can play with scale and layout and now I really enjoy working that way too.
I combine my interests in storytelling, illustration, hand lettering with my love of cooking to create hand drawn illustrated recipes (check those out on my illustrated recipes page).

Discover a set of Christmas illustrations I created to help promote the Christmas film programme of the Square Chapel – a local cinema and arts centre. It features film stars!
Here are some illustrations I was commissioned to draw for the Square Chapel’s 30th anniversary. A cover illustration of the historic Halifax building and a page illustrating the story of the Arts Centre.
